How to spend 24 hours in Bulimba

bulimba restaurant
Bulimba is a small but absolutely thriving suburb just to the north-east of Brisbane’s CBD. It’s the kind of place where you visit once and immediately start picturing what your life would be like to live in such a fun spot that’s bristling with waterfront views, lush parks, and countless cafes, bars, and restaurants.

So if you’ve got 24 hours in Bulimba, prepare to fall in love – here’s how to spend them.

Breakfast at Cocobliss

Start your day off on the right foot with something delicious, refreshing, and healthy.

Cocobliss is known for its sensational acai bowls, the majority of which are free from refined sugars, vegan, and gluten free. They’re absolutely packed with fruits, nuts, and other natural goodies, so you’ll get the flavour hit you crave and the energy you need for a big day ahead.

A river cruise and a stroll

Are you even in Brisbane if you don’t take a cruise on the Brisbane River?

From Cocobliss, make your way down Oxford Street – stopping at the Darvella Patisserie to pick up a takeaway coffee – and to the Bulimba Ferry Terminal at the end of the street. Here you can jump aboard a ferry and simply cruise along the river enjoying the sights, before getting off and taking another ferry back to Bulimba.

Keep an eye out for places where you can stop for a gorgeous riverside walk along the way.

Lunch from the Fish Factory

Brisbane’s oldest seafood market is right here in Bulimba, and it promises some of the tastiest fish’n’chips and other seafood goodies in the city. Pick up your fish and chips and make your way to the Colmslie Recreation Reserve nearby to enjoy your meal by the waterfront.

This spot is an off-leash dog park, so as an added bonus, you’ll get to watch the pups having the time of their lives running around and playing on the doggie obstacle course.

Hit the shops on Oxford Street

Next, make your way back to Oxford Street to walk off your lunch and check out the myriad of stores along this main street.

There’s everything from second hand stores and bookshops to boutiques and gelato shops, making this an easy and fun way to pass your afternoon and pick up a souvenir or a gift or two.

A stop at a microbrewery

Once you’re ready for a sit and a refreshing drink, head to Revel Brewing Co (also on Oxford Street), where you can pick up a cheeky beverage or try a flight of their craft beers.

Everything is brewed on site and poured straight from the barrel, so this will give you an authentic taste of Brisbane’s flourishing craft beer scene.

For the non-beer drinkers, there are also wines and non-alcoholic drinks available.

Dinner at Ribs & Burgers

After all that adventuring, you’ve probably worked up a bit of an appetite. A hankering for something delicious – you’ll find it at Ribs & Burgers Bulimba. And wouldn’t you know it, you’ll also find us on Oxford St!

We have some of the best Bulmiba burgers in town, such as our classic Butcher’s Original, and the epic Wagyu Royale. We also promise some of the tastiest slow-cooked ribs you’ve ever unleashed your tongue on, exceptional steaks, and a particularly special thickshake menu.

Finish the day with a tipple and a boogie

Finish your day in style at Oxford 152, a popular spot for locals and visitors for its extensive bar and lively scene on Friday and Saturday nights.

You can either relax with a favourite cocktail and reflect on the day, or get up on that dance floor and show off your best moves.

So make your booking at one of the tastiest restaurants in Bulimba (Ribs & Burgers, of course), and get ready for a stellar day out exploring one of Brisbane’s coolest suburbs.
