Obsession is a big word. It’s something the mind fixates upon, struggles to deviate from, and considers nothing else, morning, noon, and night. But it’s an apt word, really, when it comes to our two new dessert offerings; the exquisite Peppermint Crisp and the heavenly Salted Creme Caramel. Prepare for a little drooling - here’s a little more about each of these new obsessions in our lives.

The Peppermint Crisp

Rich, creamy chocolate and zingy, fresh peppermint. Has there ever been a more perfect pairing? 

We all know and love the classic peppermint slice, but there are few dessert items that fuse these two flavours. That is, except for in South Africa, where peppermint crisp tart is a well-known and loved traditional dessert and chocolate bar. 

So we’ve taken a delicious, minty leaf from South Africa’s cookbook, and have created a peppermint crisp dessert of our own here in Australia. It includes crushed biscuit, caramel cream, and satisfyingly thick chunks of peppermint and chocolate crisp, all of which is thrown together into a glorious serving dish for your pleasure. 

This is a particularly good choice for dessert if you know you want something sweet to finish your meal at Ribs & Burgers, but don’t feel up to something overly rich – just overly tasty. 

The Salted Creme Caramel

Rivalling the Peppermint Crisp dessert option and making your after-dinner choices fraught with indecision is the Salted Creme Caramel. 

This decadent dessert blends smooth salted creme caramel, tops it with crushed Oreos for some serious chunky texture, and adds a hefty sprinkling of caramel chocolate pearls for little pops of flavour to finish it off. 

This time, we have looked to the world’s most renowned chefs on all things indulgent – the French. French pastry chef Henri Le Roux of Brittany made a name for himself in the 70s with his creation of a salted butter caramel – an idea inspired no doubt by Brittany’s famed salted butter productions (and his education at the world’s only confectionary school probably helped). 

Since then, the world-wide love affair with salted caramel has been undeniable, and it’s no surprise that Australians are just as enthusiastic between the unlikely but unbelievable pairing of sweet caramel and salt. This French classic is more than welcome on our shores, and fortunately available in Ribs & Burgers locations everywhere.
